Legion (2010) HD 1080

Legion (2010)

The film begins with a quote from the Bible, something about fearing God before the night sky fades in and we see a man fall from very high, landing in a back alley somewhere in Los Angeles.

The fallen man is the Angel Michael (Paul Bettany). Soon after arrival, Michael takes out a large knife and cuts off his own wings, causing a blue halo to close around him, and removing a large metal collar from around his neck he is presumably mortal now, and no longer taking orders from Heaven. Recovering a bit, Michael looks across the street at a Chinese toy import warehouse, and heads toward it.

Inside, a security guard is patrolling the premises when Michael crashes through the glass ceiling, knocking him out, and stealing his clothes. Inside the warehouses bathroom, Michael grabs a med kit and stitches up the wounds from where his wings were removed. Upon finishing up, he finds what he was looking for in the warehouse, a shipping container crammed full of guns (apparently toys were not the only thing this company was shipping).

Cut to the Mojave Desert, a voice over by Charlie (Adrianne Palicki) tells the audience about what her mother use to say about God, and how he was ever loving and forgiving, but eventually got tired of all of humanitys bullshit and became an angry, vengeful God.

The camera pans to a small desert diner/gas station where a bunch of locals work, including Charlie, an unwed single mother (well, pregnant) working as a waitress. Charlie speaks to one of her coworkers/friend, Jeep (Lucas Black), and its evident that he has feelings for her, and wants to take care of her and the baby, even though she doesnt seem to return his affections. Inside the diner, Jeeps father Bob (Dennis Quaid) is trying to fix an old 60s era TV by slapping at it with varying degrees of success while the chef, Percy (Charles S. Dutton) teases him about getting a new one. A married couple, Howard and Sandra Anderson (John Tenney and Kate Walsh) and their daughter Audrey (Willa Holland) are stuck at the diner, waiting for their car to be fixed. Sandra complains to Howard about their daughters clothing (too scantily clad) and its evident that Howard is the relaxed type, Sandra is a bit uptight, and Audrey is the rebellious teenager.

Back in LA, two cops are on patrol in their squad car and discuss how bad things have gotten, and older of the two says that he sometimes wished that he could just torch the place and let it start over, and that this city is about to explode from all the crime and evil but before he can continue, there is a massive explosion in front of them and out comes Michael from the warehouse, carrying two large duffel bags of firearms. The cops try to arrest him, but he gets one of them in an arm lock, while pointing a gun at the other. Suddenly, the lights flickering on and off, and the cop pointing the gun at Michael starts to shake violently. Once the cop stops shaking, hes noticeably different black eyes, and possessing a mouth full of pointy shark-like teeth. The possessed man shoots the other cop, asks what Michael is doing, as his intervention on Earth is violating his orders. Michael says that he is following his own orders now, shoots the possessed cop, grabs his bags of guns, and drives off in the squad car. As Michael leaves, darkness surrounds the city the apocalypse has begun.

At the diner Sandra is complaining from how long the repairs are taking, and gets Howard to talk to Bob. Bob tells him that it shouldnt be long, and goes to check on his son. In the garage, Bob finds Jeep cleaning up an old crib instead of fixing the car and reprimands him for it. Jeep says that he knows that Charlie doesnt love him, but believes that taking care of her and the baby is something that he just has to do. Bob tells Jeep that he once had a dream to do something too, and opening this gas station/diner in hopes of profiting when a mall was to be opened across the road. However, the plans were scrapped and Bob was left with a business out in the middle of nowhere, and his wife left him and Jeep to fend for themselves. Its clear that Bob loves his son, and doesnt want him to chase a dream only to realize too late that its a dead end, but he eventually relents, and tells Jeep to just finish work on the car.

Confucius 2010 HD1080

Confucius
Although, in the West at least, the name Confucius is widely known, and indeed often misused, very few people are actually aware of either his teachings, or the events of the Great Sage’s life, which stretched from 551 to 479Bc. With the trend for big budget Chinese costume epics continuing unabated, a Confucius film was perhaps inevitable, though thankfully the production had a steady hand at the helm in the form of 5th generation director Hu Mei, who had previously won praise for her acclaimed historical drama series “Yong Zheng Dynasty” and “The Emperor in Han Dynasty”. Perhaps more enticingly, the film also boasts the legendary Chow Yun Fat in the lead role, marking somewhat of a change for the actor, still best known for his iconic action roles in the likes of “A Better Tomorrow” and “The Killer”, and who of late has rather embarrassed himself in a handful of substandard Hollywood outings.

Did You Hear About The Morgans HD 1080

Did You Hear About The Morgans
Ever sat through a movie wondering to yourself "how does crap like this get made?" Well, Did You Hear About the Morgans makes those movies look good. The first word that came to mind when my daughter asked what I thought was "excruciating". I can NOT believe the same person wrote Two Weeks Notice and Music and Lyrics. Did he lose a bet?

And Hugh Grant...what to say? He acted like a man being held at ransom, trying to convey a desperate plea for help. I expected to see a "Help me" sign taped to his back every time he turned around. His performance was forced and there was literally no chemistry whatsoever between him and Sarah Jessica Parker. The plot, the dialog, the story arc...literally everything in the movie was a poorly executed cliché. The witness protection plan? Seriously? This is 2009 and not 1986, right?

As a die hard Hugh Grant fan, my only hope is he made this movie to please some big studio boss in order to get his own screenplay (about his war hero grandfather) made. If so, it had better be good...it's going to take nothing short of another Saving Private Ryan to save Grant's reputation after this stinker of a movie.

Brothers 2009 HD 1080

Brothers
The trio of Jake Gyllenhaal, Tobey Macguire and Natalie Portman got me very excited for this film, and from an acting standpoint, they did not disappoint. The script gives Macguire the most to work with as the family man/Marine, Sam Cahill, whose latest trip to Afghanistan sees him imprisoned by the Taliban and ultimately returned to America with some serious psychological issues. While he is MIA, his wife, Grace, (Portman) and ex-con brother, Tommy, (Gyllenhaal) are told he is dead, and the two grow closer, eventually verging on emotional and physical attachment.

Ultimately, the movie is an emotional ringer. Sam returns to a family that wants to love him, but his walls are up, he's been through a lot and its his brother the fun loving Uncle Tommy who Sam's children want to play with. A quick note, Sheridan the director makes great use of the two daughters as comic breaks in otherwise terribly tense situations. Our theater was laughing at the kids and it felt to me, as though we needed that laughter to balance out the gloom. There are a few climaxes, some extremely tense family dinners and finally a final gripping scene where Sam is pushed to the brink, he distrusts his wife, assumes his brother is sleeping with her, and no longer can see the humor in his elementary aged children, can he hold on?

Its a touching film and a sad film, but it probably could have been a bit better. The script and title of the film suggest a big tension or interplay between the brothers. I found the brother relationship lacking in substance, and I thought the ingredients for some serious tension and emotional pain were in place but were never put to use. Sam Shepard does well as the Vietnam Vet father, but all he really does is establish his love for his son, the Marine, and his disdain for his son, the ex-con. There was so much more that he could have done, his role seems intentionally diminished. Portman is great as usual, but arguably miscast, as she doesn't belong cast into a film where she is not supposed to think. She's a thinking woman's actress and here she is left observing, we know she knows, but her character must play it clueless.

I cried, and wanted the story to continue, as there seems to be a bit left to this story when the film fades away. Both signs that the movie was enjoyable and touching. The growth of Gyllenhaal as the ex-con who is on the rise, adjusting to life on the outside and acting as a surrogate father in the absence of Macguire is nicely juxtaposed with Macguire's devolution into post-traumatic stress ridden torment. Watch the Oscar nods roll in, but I think, if anything, the movie may win individual awards, as the product as a whole falls quite a bit short of award winning status.

Arthur And The Revenge Of Maltazard HD1080

Arthur And The Revenge Of Maltazard
This is a 2 part movie. The first part was released in Dec of 09 and the second part was released in Feb 2010. If you don't like the ending watch the second part which unlike Harry Potter took only 3 months to be released. Also just so you know there are maybe 3 scenes uptight parents will not like. There are hundreds of scenes in Shrek I would not let my child see. Movie was great and WOW entertaining if you watch both parts of the movie as a whole. Cannot believe this movie was made in France did you see the A star list of cast in the Original. Madonna, Robert Dinero, Mia Farrow, Snoop Dogg, Jimmy Fallon and Freddie Highmore is amazing. This film neither looks or feels the part of any B movie or any Indie Film. The effects for the budget were Awesome. I cannot believe it's getting such horrible reviews. Some of you need to re-watch the crap Disney and Pixar are putting out and the subliminal messages they pursue. Anyways I hope this review at least makes you look at it. Watch the first movie if you haven't seen it then watch the second and third sequentially or else you will be mad at the seconds ending.

New Moon (2009)

New Moon (2009)
The Twilight Saga

I loved the Twilight movie, that's how I started reading the books in the first place. I've read them about ten times each and I still like them. But New Moon's big screen adaptation was a huge let down.

One thing that was improved was that many of the characters actually smiled or laughed naturally when the moment called for it, as opposed to the "I don't crack a smile cause I'm a seriously deadly vampire" routine in Twilight.

I liked the portrayal of Alice, she seemed more like what she should be according to the book, Charlie and I also liked the wolves and the rest of the special effects.

But I couldn't feel the bond between Edward and Bella. I couldn't believe that they loved each other. Hell, I couldn't believe they even liked each other. Even at the end, after their ordeal, after deciding that they would never let each other go, they were frigid. The actors just delivered their lines, they didn't feel them.

The score ranged from awful to non-existent. It seems as though it was not written specifically for New Moon. Carter Burwell's score brings to memory specific scenes in Twilight. This one is an indifferent, generic one, I guess it would fit in whatever movie you threw it in.

However, the most important flaw was that the entire movie seemed very rushed, like it was originally supposed to be much longer but somebody edited it heavily and really, really badly. For example, in an instant we are informed that Edward is going to commit suicide thinking Bella's dead, she drives off with Alice *bang* next thing you know you see a plane in the air, *bang* next thing you know Alice and Bella are already inside the stolen car on their way to Volterra and it carries on like that until the end.

No character development, no bonds between them, no space to breathe, no explanation whatsoever of how things happened or how decisions were made, nothing but a hastily chopped up summary of the book.

Ninja Assassin (2009)

Ninja Assassin (2009)

I think violence is the only necessary word to describe this film. The characters live in a violent world and do violent acts. And I liked it a lot. There are not many Hollywood producers who have the guts to put lots of gratuitous gory action sequences in their final products, and for this reason the Wachowski brothers must be praised. The story is about a boy who is trained to become a very skillful ninja assassin, but after his best friend is killed he decide to leave his family.Years after, he fight against them and is helped by an Europol agent. There are fighting scenes every five minutes, and especially in the second half they keep for a long time, with the hero dealing with dozens of opponents. The plot is weak indeed, but for an action fan,I couldn't ask for more.

Astro Boy (2009)

Astro Boy (2009)

Astro Boy has always been the symbol of the golden era of anime as well as the golden era of American licensing of anime. This movie presents Astro Boy in a slightly new way.

The story for it is rather simple, but doesn't fail in keeping one entertain throughout it's time run. Those who seen the three anime adaptations would already know the origin of Astro Boy's creation. That's still included as well as appearances of a couple of recognizable characters. And a couple of new additions that fit in for this movie.

Now to list the good and bad thing about this movie. The good thing is this movie remains true to the concept and Astro Boy a like. It still takes place in the future where robots and humans live together. As well as robot civil rights which was a common topic in the previous Astro Boy adaptations on robots being questioned whether they should have the same rights as humans or not.

Bad thing is that the movie could of been a whole lot more if the writers made the movie feel more close to the anime with the addition of more characters or have Dr. Elefun & Daddy Walrus have either bigger parts or have at least have the same feel as their anime counterparts. I also think this movie tried too hard in Americanizing it by adding certain human characters that look like they belong in a different movie or the fact that they were trying to make it look more American by having the characters eat pizza instead of tempura.

The die hard fans of Astro Boy will likely to still enjoy this movie. It's not a mirror copy of it's anime counterpart but doesn't fail in being entertaining. To me it's something that will make popcorn taste better while watching it.

Planet 51 (2009)

Planet 51 (2009)

decided to see Planet 51 because I thought it could offer an entertaining tribute to the sci-fi genre. And even though the film offers many references to classics from the genre, I found the humor to be painfully primitive, not to mention its story is so bland, predictable and boring that detracts the solid work of animation, which may not reach the heights of Pixar or DreamWorks, but it still is well done.

This movie has too many generic elements, like for example the subjects about self-improvement and friendship and touches of a forced romance. The direction is absolutely insipid, the voice acting is weak and the humor is extremely irritating.Oh, and we also have to add the unfortunately popular practice of extending trivial events and becoming them into forced action sequences, in a desperate effort to rescue the movie.Co-directors Jorge Blanco, Javier Abad and Marcos Martínez and screenwriter Joe Stillman did not take any risks with this film, and they finished making such an inoffensive product which lacks of any emotion, suspense or humor. It is a shame that the work of many animators was wasted on an uninteresting story based on decrepit formulas.

So, with the exception of the technical aspect, there are not good elements on this horrible animation film.Do not waste your time on this absolutely boring movie.

Hua Mulan (2009)

Hua Mulan (2009)

Hua Mulan is the most famous Chinese folklore. Thus, there are many versions of this classic story. Sad to say, this isn't one of the better ones. Vicki as Mulan was not a wise choice. She doesn't look like the type of responsible, mature girls. She's more of the impulsive wild child like Sun Shang Xiang. Although both Sun and Hua are women fighting in a war, they differ. Sun is royalty who fights with no risk of being discovered she is a girl. Hua is disobeying the capital rule of fighting as a girl. I was so disappointed with mulan. She is no way a drunkard, or desperate lover. Sure, Vicki did well in the fight scenes, but the emotional parts are too boring. Chen Kun can't act. He looks ugly, not as handsome as his character in Painted Skin. The storyline is borderline trash. Vicki masquerading as a servant to get close to Chen Kun? White man Vitash seems to join in the fun somehow. Chen Kun turned out to be a prince. Vicki got discovered so early. None of these is really historically accurate. Sure, you can take some creative liberties, but this is STRETCHING the truth.

The Ugly Truth (2009)

The Ugly Truth (2009)

"It's a little sexist. It paints the women as shrews, as humourless and uptight, and it paints the men as lovable, goofy, fun-loving guys... I'm playing such a bitch; why is she being such a killjoy?" The Ugly Truth star Katherine Heigl there, talking to 'Vanity Fair' in 2007 about Judd Apatow's 'Knocked Up.'

Fast-forward a couple of years, and stone me, if Heigl's not playing another shrewish, humourless and uptight media-professional, in yet another opposites-attract romantic comedy. Is this her idea of progress? If she's atoning for her early role in 1994's American remake of 'My Father, The Hero', in which her 14-year-old character wears a white, one-piece thong bikini while claiming her dad Gérard Depardieu is actually her lover in order to appear more womanly to boys, then perhaps it is. But right now Heigl's range is proving slightly more limited than John Wayne's, who at least played both a Mongolian *and* an ancient Roman with a Madison County accent.

Heigl plays Abby Richter, a Sacramento breakfast TV show producer, and the kind of frightening valkyrie who background-checks her dates. This glamorous professional remains inexplicably single - until the execs pair her up with shouty shock jock Mike Chadway (a dodgy-accented Gerard Butler) to boost the ratings with his lame 'Men are from Bars, Women Need a Penis' shtick. Chadway's 'Ugly Truth' segment claims to spill the beans about the sexes while advising pent-up women to flick the same. "Men are simple, they cannot be trained! You wanna win a man over, you don't need ten steps, you just need blowjobs!" While women who want 'relationships' are advised to talk dirty, dress like Streetwalker Barbie and "get a StairMaster". Given that Mike has already called Abby a "dog" and a "lesbian", what happens next is frankly extraordinary: the shriekingly strange control freak falls for her neighbour, the young orthopaedic doctor Colin (Eric Winter), and challenges Mike to be her very own Cyrano-in-an-earpiece. And, well, we all know how 'Roxanne' turned out. (Or not: Mike doesn't actually get off with Colin.)

If one were to take a buzzsaw to The Ugly Truth, its arterial spray would drip down the wall to form the coagulated word 'Generic'. Among 37,000 similar rom-coms, it is markedly close to 2001's 'Someone Like You', in which Ashley Judd uses roommate Hugh Jackman's womanising outlook as raw material for her sexist advice column. And then falls in love with him. This lack of any originality whatsoever wouldn't be so insulting if there existed any actual chemistry between the leads; if the supporting cast weren't as slight as snowflakes (wimpy Colin is barely even human); or if, with its trash-mouth, oral-sex gags and casting, it didn't so desperately and transparently want to be a Judd Apatow movie. Just one without the insight. Or soul. Or wit. Or anything. Why is Mike in love with Abby? "Beats the s*** out of me, but I am." And that, boys and girls, is how you tidily dispose of character development when your script ain't worth a fart.

Its leading lady exec-produced this (rarely a promising sign), and so did her mum, but this film seemingly exists only to utterly humiliate Heigl via three farcical set-pieces; the lowlight of which sees her remote-controlled vibrating sex knickers (a gift from Mike, with the honest-to-goodness words "this isn't for you, it's for your bean") being 'accidentally' activated while she's out having dinner with clients. Meg Ryan's got nothing to worry about but Nora Ephron should sue. "Thanks for coming tonight" says Mike. "For dinner. That kind of coming." Sure, we get it. Who wrote these gags, David Brent? Well actually, a trio of women wrote this film (two of them also being the brains behind 'Legally Blonde', 'She's The Man' and 'The House Bunny'), demonstrably proving that chauvinism isn't the sole preserve of one sex.

Fantastic Mr. Fox (2009)

Fantastic Mr. Fox (2009)

Errors in geography: The film avoids identifying its setting as either Britain or America. Conveniently, Mr. Fox's species Vulpes vulpes is found in both countries. The human town has some very British details including a round red post box (American would be square and blue), the station wagon has a right-hand drive, and the humans have British accents. (Even if the setting is England, the animals' American accents are permissible as an element of fantasy.) The beaver's species is given as Castor fiber, the Eurasian variety (the American variety is Castor canadensis). However, the wolf's mountain looks more like a place in America or Canada, and more conclusively, there is an American opossum among the animals. There are no native opossums, nor any marsupial relatives, anywhere in Europe, so an opossum cannot be from the same region as Castor fiber. Even more confusing is that on the wackbat-trophy you can read the name "M.K. Silvery-Marmoset", an animal only found on very limited places in Brazil.

[Rec] 2 (2009)

[Rec] 2 (2009)
This is a direct sequel to the surprisingly good "Rec",the story takes place where the other one ended, this time focusing more on a Swat team.

From the very start the movie has the exact same feel as its predecessor. The acting is great, special effects even better.

The story is what will make you eventually hate it or love it even more, because the cause of the infected is eventually explained.Im just gonna say that its quite original.

Its not as creepy as the first movie, but its an excellent and original sequel. As a comparison,Rec2 is to Rec what Aliens is to Alien.

If you loved the first one,its a must see!

Blade Trilogy On HD 1080P

Blade

Blade grows up to become a vampire hunter, swearing vengeance on the creatures that killed his mother. He teams up with a man called Whistler, a retired vampire hunter and weapons expert.Meanwhile, in the urban underworld, a feud is started between 'pure-blood' vampires and those who had been human, but were 'turned.' Blade becomes aware of this and investigates further, uncovering a plot to raise the blood god La Magra, something he must stop at all costs.
Blade II
A rare mutation has occurred within the vampire community. "Reapers" are vampires so consumed with an insatiable bloodlust that they prey on vampires as well as humans, transforming victims who are unlucky enough to survive into Reapers themselves. Now their quickly expanding population threatens the existence of vampires, and soon there won't be enough humans in the world to satisfy their bloodlust. Blade, Whistler and an armory expert named Scud are curiously summoned by the Shadow Council. The council reluctantly admits that they are in a dire situation and they require Blade's assistance. Blade then tenuously enters into an alliance with The Bloodpack, an elite team of vampires who were trained in all modes of combat to defeat Blade. They'll use their skills instead to help wipe out the Reaper threat. Blade's team and the Bloodpack are the only line of defense which can prevent the Reaper population from wiping out the vampire and human populations.
Blade: Trinity
The vampires succeed in framing Blade for the killing of several humans (who were in fact familiars being used as bait). Blade, now in the public's eye and wanted by the FBI, has to join forces with the Nightstalkers, a human clan of vampire hunters. Blade, Hannibal King, and Abigail Whistler go after Danica Talos, who has succeeded in locating and resurrecting Drake, also known as Dracula, the first vampire and by far the most powerful. In order to stop him, Blade has to release a virus that will wipe out all vampires, but he has only one opportunity to do so.

2012 On 1080P True HIGH DEFINITON

2012

I went to an advance screening of 2012 a few nights ago and I have to admit that this movie was entertaining at best and that's it. The whole movie is almost entirely comprised of special effects. Of course you'll see all of the lead characters survive scenarios that a regular human being would not. Some of the scenes are so ridiculously unbelievable that you want to laugh at the fodder that's being expected of you to believe. Emmerich certainly pushes "suspension of disbelief" to its limit.

John Cusack and Woody Harrelson are the only actors that attempt to hold the film together, while Danny Glover and Thandie Newton were an utter and complete let-down considering their previous work history. You won't see any remotely Oscar-worthy performances here. The casting of this film seemed off and poorly executed. You could tell the bulk of the financial budget went to the special effects and not the actors.

The thing that I found thoroughly disappointing about 2012 is that it's almost entirely lacking of any interesting backstory or intellectual substance whatsoever. There's very little mention of the Mayan calendar, Mayan history, or any of the prophetic wisdom that has foreseen the supposed end of days. The fear, analysis, curiosity, and everything else you've ever wondered about this new mysterious year that is quickly approaching is almost entirely removed from this film. That would have and could have made this film closer to a 10 if I didn't feel like my brain was utterly wasted on this CGI and special effects bonanza. They try to cram so many explosions, eruptions, earthquakes, and natural disasters into two hours that I might be a little desensitized to the real thing if it ever happens. After awhile nothing felt realistic or interesting about it at all.

It's novelty entertainment at best and that's it. You won't wince at how painfully awful this movie is, and you won't walk away knowing anything meaningful about 2012, but hopefully you'll help repay Sony pictures for the exorbitant amount of money that they and Roland Emmerich spent on their special effects budget. Don't say you weren't warned.
